“What to do rather than what not to do.” We have been told not to do things that ruin our health. However not much emphasis is put on things we can do that enables us to live longer. This week’s article teaches me the three main factors of living a long healthy life: control beliefs, social ties and exercise.
The most important key is to believe in yourself that you are in control of your own life. This will lead you to success, be it in your career, relationships or having a long healthy life. We are the one that decide and plan our own path of life. ‘Why get off the couch if your genes have already determined that you are going to be fat?’ If you do not believe in yourself that things will turn out to be a success, you will not even try to achieve it in the first place.
Blessed be he who expects nothing, for he shall never be disappointed. Some people chose not to believe in themselves maybe due to the reason that they are fear of disappointment. This belief acts a bit on me as I do not like to set a high target to myself so that I would not have to face any huge disappointment. ‘I am easily satisfied with the very best.’ Nevertheless beliefs are probably not constant throughout life. One may be very optimistic today, but encountered a failure and later becomes pessimistic for the rest of their life.
Next, to have a long healthy life we need to lead a healthy lifestyle. In order to achieve this, the main point is to exercise. Take for an example, a man that is very optimistic and believes he is in control of his own life, but does not exercise regularly. Will his body be fit and healthy? Exercising not only keep us fit, but also help to relieve our stress and make us feel more refreshing. When we are feeling good, we will think more positively.
Lastly, ‘We must accept finite disappointment, but we must never lose infinite hope.’ Believe in yourself that you are in control of your life, and do the right things.
