Social impact- When losses are incurred, the gambler would most probably borrow money from loan sharks to gamble further, partly to pay off the debt and also remain hopeful that money can still be won back. If they continue to lose further, not only would the debt remain unpaid, but the gambler has to seek friends and family to help him pay off his debt. In times of financial need, most friends would tend to leave the gambler and leave him to fend on his own. Through this process, he would find his friends leaving him 1 by 1.
Emotional impact- Direct families of gamblers would suffer the most in terms of being emotionally hurt. They cannot bear to lose a family member to gambling. It is painful to see how gambling can ruin the lives of the person and the people around him.
Physical- A gambler tends to be temperamental and flares up when he loses in gambling. The feeling of stress and unhappiness would be supressed in the gambler. He could only direct his negative emotions to his family members, either through beatings or verbal insults.
