Comments on S'pore IRs ruin Johor families, says lawmaker
Friday, November 26, 2010

Afther reading the article, i agree with Mr Tang Nai Soon, state assemblyman for Pekan Nenas. The governement should limit the number of housewives entering casinos in Singapore.

To me, i think the responsibilty of being a housewife is to look after the house and also their family. Being a mother of the children, she should be a model for them to show them what is good and bad. If their children know that their mothers went to gamble, they will think that when they grow up, they can gamble too.

For the poorer housewives, they put up high hope in the casinos as they think that they will have a chance to win tons of money, which is not true. After going once to the casinos in Singapore, they become more and more addicted. After losing all the money they had, they still not satisfied. Therefore, they borrow money from the loan shark. I think they should not borrow the money from loan shark. It is because the loan sharks will charge then high interest which they could not afford it.

Singapore government should also try to stop the the free packages arranged by the private individuals and companies. This will cause more housewives to go to the casinos. Although coming to Singapore to gamble at the casinos will help our economy to grow, it is a disadvantage for the family. Gambling will cause family problems etc.

Overall, GAMBLING IS NOT GOOD!!! IT WILL CAUSE HARM TO THE FAMILY MEMBERS AND ALSO THEIR FRIENDSHIP WITH THEIR FRIENDS AS THEY MIGHT BE ASKING AROUND TO BORROW MONEY TO RETURN THEIR LOANS.
