Being menatlly disabled is not ones fault. If given a choice, one will not want to be one. Whenenver we encounted them, people tend to view them differently or to treat them differently. Some might take advantage of them.
Even if they are normal person or not we should not judge people differently and should treat them eaqually. They do have human rights too.
I agree what Qu Fuhong had done. She treat the mentally ill workers eat the same meals she does. She buys them cigarettes and alcohol, although she does not pay them. I think other bosses who also employ the mentally disabled workers should do the same way as Qu Fuhong. They do not have to treat them exactly how Qu Fuhong treat them by buying them food etc. They can probably pay them salary or other things that is good for them

Women are chronic shopaholics during sales season, study shows
I agree that women are chronic shopaholics during sales season. This can be proven from the article that "one out of two 14-to-24 year-olds showing shopaholic tendencies" in Austria.
However, this is same goes to Singapore. Most of the shopaholics came from the women. The reason is probably because they like to spend money once they got their salary especially when the Great Singapore Sale (GSS) as the clothes and other branded goods are also much cheaper than its original price.
But nowadays, even the men also spend as much as the women. Once they saw the "SALE" sign put up on the store, they will walk in and buy what they want.
Back to the topic, I agree that no matter how much is your income, whether you are rich or poor, you will spend as much as you have in your wallet. Hence, people will use credit card instead of cash. Because in this way, they no need to think of how much they spend as the bill will be send to them by the end of the month.
In my opinion, I think young adults should not be a shopaholics because for those who are not working, they only know how to spend their parents money and don't know how hard their parents earn that sum of money. If they want to become a shopaholics, they should go out and work and use the money they earn. Through this, they will know how difficult to earn money.
I agree to a large extent that mentally disabled workers should be legally employed and well treated.
Mentally disabled people are normally perceived by others as ‘dangerous’ people. Thus, not many employers are willing to hire them. As an illustration, if two people came for a job interview, but one of them with mentally disability. Which one would you probably employed? Definitely not the one with disability I guess.
I seriously think that sweatshops should receive several legal punishments for their doings. Mentally disabled workers are not there to be allegedly enslaved in deplorable conditions! Although with disability, they are after all a human being like us, with thoughts and feelings. We should know that disabled people deserve to be treated with the same respect and given the same opportunity as everyone else has.
They can accomplish the same task as us, just that they may require longer time. This does not necessarily means that employers have the right not to give them any wages. However, in the case of Huashan Gaojia briquette factory owner Qu Fuhong, she did not pay those mentally ill workers of hers. Instead those workers eat the same meal as she does, and ahe buys them cigarettes and alcohols. I think this is alright, as she did not look down and mistreat them.
To sum up, disabled people should be treated with respect. Remember, they have feelings just like you! Don’s treat them as inferior.. they are just different.
In general, women are the ones who are often described as shopaholics. Are women really that easy getting addicted to shopping? Study shows that one out of two 14 to 24 years old single women showing shopaholic tendencies.
Taking Great Singapore Sale (GSS) as an example, majority of them are female customers, coming armed with great fighting spirit to beat the dizzy crowds. It is not surprise to witness the scene when female customers pull each other’s hair, snatching and quarrelling over a discounted item. This simply shows how women can behave to an extent when it comes to shopping, and not saying, during sale seasons. To put it differently, whenever you see a huge crowd of women gathering at a particular place, the first thing that will flash through your mind is ‘SALE!’
Marketers like to set their target audiences on the females, as it is clearly seen that we are more prone to shopaholism. We are the ones who easily get influence by advertisement, especially those on sale items. Furthermore, the way a woman dress up, determines her social status. Thus, this is one of the reasons why women are so concern in getting the right clothes, and accessories. On the other hand, men are only concern with their 5Cs- career, car, condo, credit cards and country club. Hence, during sales period, women will seize the opportunity to purchase something that they originally want, but at a lower price.
Shopping does not harms, but being a compulsive shoppers ruin one’s life. I agree with educating the youths with the dangers of compulsive shopping, before they actually become one. Overall, it is not a bad idea of shopping during sales seasons. However, you must be sure that you got to control yourself and to resist temptation from those attractive discounted sales items! Spend wisely! :D
I agree that it is not easy to accept mentally disable workers but I feel that since the owner of the factories are willing to hire then, then they should be treating them well. These people may be mentally disabled but they are after all still humans like us and humans should be treated in a dignified manner. It is not as though they asked to be mentally disabled so it's not their fault that they are created this way also. Therefore, we should not be looking down on them just for the mere fact that they are slightly different from us.
The owner of the Huashan Gaojia briquette factory feels that she has already done a good deed by accepting them as her employees and thus feels that she need not pay them their rightful wage by claiming that they do not know what a banknote. How would she even know that they do not know what a banknote is if she hasn't tried to show them yet? They are just mentally disabled and not stupid so she should not make such a claim without evidence.
Workers who are mentally disabled will be easily bullied in the workplace as not everyone can associate and communicate with them. Thus, there is a need to protect their interests. They deserve everything that anyone else deserves. It would be good if there could be some volunteers to check up on them occasionally to see that they are not bullied by their co-workers or employers.
Workers with mental disabilities usually experience a tougher time finding suitable jobs compared to others. Still, they work dilligently to earn a living. However, not every employer is willing to accept such a worker if a candidate can be found to do the job better although the same wage is paid. Regardless of the difference in work efficiency, the society should learn to accept mentally disabled workers which helps them to carry on their lives well.
As stated in the article, two factories in Jinan, capital of East China's Shandong province, were found to have employed 8 mentally disabled workers. Upon reading the article, I was quite touched that the employers were willing to accept those workers despite their disability.
Although the 8 workers may not have been paid, the owner was kind enough to pay for their food expenses and to take care of their accommodation. Honestly speaking, it is rare to find such a caring employer and I really admire her for that. The fact that she takes in mentally disabled workers shows her sympathy for them by lending a helping hand to improve their lives. It was mentioned that 4 workers were previously vagrants before they were hired.
Still, this is only 1 example. There are definitely such workers around. It is difficult to determine if their employers have been treating them well. Employers will receive servere punishment if slavery-like practices or torture are found to take place in factories. I strongly agree to such a law. Mentally disabled workers have their human rights as well. Thus, there is no reason for them to either be enslaved or abused.
Employers are encouraged to hire workers with mental disabilities. If trained, they would be able to contribute and possibly perform their work well. Why not give them a chance? We should not discriminate people just because of their lower mental abilities. Instead, they should treated equally like the rest.
To me, I am glad that employers have the heart to empathise.
I agree that women are chronic shopaholics during sales season. The word "sales" means that products are priced lower than their original price and are thus more affordable. For example, people can buy two t-shirts for the price of one during a sale. This is the main reason why sales usually attract a larger crowd than normal.
As the items are cheap, people tend to buy more and more without thinking if they truly need these items. In this case, they would be satisfying their wants and not their needs. This will result in them chalking up a huge amount of money. Although it may seem that they have bought a lot of things on the surface, the amount of money that they have to pay will increase as well. Take the recent metro expo sale for an example. Although my mum and I bought many items, our bill was more than $200.
Even though the advantage of sales is that people can get cheaper items, the disadvantage of it is that they will not be able to limit their spending. This means that people tend to buy more than they actually need. Although most people would easily pay by cashcards, they are not able to foresee the huge amount of money that they would have to pay their credit card companies at month end as they are "blinded" by the cheap goods. As a result, they may run into huge amounts of debts to their credit card companies as they are unable to pay them back. In a rash and desperate moment, they may even turn to loansharks which will cause undesirable consequences.
